I’ve got a baby red eared slider and I don’t have a clue how often I need to replace the active carbon in the water filter.
Does anyone have a rough idea of how often it needs replacing or how to tell that it needs replacing?

I bought a 55 gallon set up from a friend that was moving. It was originally a Salt water tank so it has a salt water filter with square media.
Can this be used for the fresh water tank as well? If not what should I use for a 55 gallon tank?
We are also going to get a gravel vacuum, a heater, and eventually some fish….

I have 2 goldfish and I’m wondering if the sound of the water dripping into their tank from the water filter bothers them and if I should turn it of once in a while.
Also I would like to know why every time I change 75% of the water in the tank, I get a bacterial bloom?

I have 2 baby red-eared sliders and I was wondering if I should leave the water filter on all day and night? I never feed the turtles in the tank, I feed them in a separate tank so the big one does not get messy. Thank you!

I’m starting to plan a new home for my 4 inch long red-eared slider. Right now it’s in a 5.5 gal tank. I’m planning on getting him (or her) a 40 gallon breeder tank. What is the best filter for this tank? I was looking at the Fluval 205. Is this going to filter the water well? (110 gph, up to 40 gallons) Are there any other filters that anybody else uses? I’m trying to spend as little as possible obviously but will not pass up a good filter either. It also loves to dig, what is a good substrate to use so that he can’t dig into it? Right now I have small pebbles on the bottom of the tank with a big plastic log for basking.
