Raise the water level, the level should be right underneath the lip of the trim.
Make sure that the filter is close enough to the water. The farther it has to fall the loader it is when it hits the water.
It could be noisy because its not picking up enough water, or it could be noisy because your filter is crappy. Maybe you need a new filter.
If its noisy because its dropping water into the tank then you need to make sure the water levels are high enough. The farther the water has to fall the louder its going to be.
Raise your water level or lower the filter.
Raise level of water in tank or get yourself a quality canister filter.
Add more water to the tank.
